Burroughs, love him or hate him, there is no denying his place is literary or cultural history. I first came across him through a comment someone made when I was still in middle school that "Naked Lunch" was the most f'd up and drug addled book ever, and it was nearly impossible to get through or understand. I read it, enjoyed it and shared my copy with some close friends. Then I dove into "The Soft Machine" and "The Ticket that Exploded," which were great, but not as captivating as Naked Lunch. I recall renting the David Cronenberg film when I had a sleep over with a friend, he had no idea what it was about or why I was interested. Later, I kept coming across WSB's voice in so many albums. It was probably Seven Souls by Material that solidified my appreciation of his narrative and story telling devices, that or the video for "Ah Pook is Here."
