592 The Remix According to Meat Beat Manifesto

This is supplemental to the remixes I posed on 125 and 410 (there is a little overlap with these).  I just love his big beats and dubby basslines with quirky analog synths and many other studio toys.  

Jack Dangers has been known to re-use samples and bits of music between his own tracks and his remixes.  Here's a few examples I picked up on.

-Boom Boom Satellites - features elements of "Its The Music."

-DHS - features elements later remixed in "Fire Number 9 (peel sessions)."

-Globo - Features elements of Jack Danger's cover of Silver Apples "Oscillations."

-Atomfear - Features several samples from Satyricon; I did more research and found that this is actually Atomfear remixing MBM.

DJ Wally's track is from the DJ Spooky mix CD Celestial Mechanix, because I was too lazy to rip this from my vinyl.

591 The Remix According to Foetus

J.G. Thirlwell, Clint Ruin, Foetus, and so many other aliases.  He's been a fixture in the industrial music scene for decades and has carved out quite an impressive discography across dozens of names along with his TV and film work.  Honestly, I just can't find the right entry point to really appreciate his music.  I've tried several albums and none of them really grabbed me.  I know him by reputation, and figured I'd give this remix selection a shot.  I'd had most of these remixes on CDs for many years and was happy to revisit this stuff to put these together, and supplement with some new stuff I wasn't as familiar with.  I found that I really like his approach where he does multiple mixes of the same track, showing a lot of diversity in his approach.

Jim O'Rourke has quite the list of credentials and he continues to find new and incredible opportunities to collaborate with artists from all over the globe and genres.  I think I first came across his name when a friend left "Eureka" at my house and I really dove into it.  Gastr Del Sol was another group I was introduced to at this time, and then not long afterwards I saw his collaborations with Sonic Youth and it was official I was a big fan of his work.

556 Snippits mix 3: the bits between the bits

Here it is, volume 3 of my snippit mixes.  Collecting short tracks (generally 1 minute or less) from albums when I was compiling other mixes and dumped them in a folder to be sorted later.  96 tracks took quite an effort to sort and arrange into somewhat of a musical narrative.  Quirky humor, blasts of cacophony, at times peaceful, and some almost resembling songs.  Vol 1 and Vol 2 still available.

  El-Producto, aka Jaime Stuart Meline has been an unrelenting force in rap music for three decades.  I remember getting "Funcrusher Plus" when it came out and being instantly hooked, especially the DJ Premiere remix of "8 Steps to Perfection."  El-P's production work is no joke either, Cannibal Ox made me take notice of that.  Throughout the years my favorite of his works were his guest appearances, many of which are included here along with some productions and remixes.  His career was all leading up to Run The Jewels, which is a like a late career megaton bomb.  Amazing and shows he still has a lot of gas left in the tank.

529 The Remix According to James Plotkin

I was first introduced to James Plotkin through the band Old, then was enamored with his solo album The Joy of Disease.  His collaborations with Mick Harris and Mark Spybey really solidified my appreciation of his artistry.  I have checked into some of his work with Aaron Turner in Jodis and Lotus Eaters which is wonderful ambient music from them, and of course Khanate is incredible.  Otherwise, I really need to seek out more of his works and productions as I've been impressed by everything I have so far.

Four rounds of Edward Ka-Spel at his finest!

This is another of my all time favorite bands, the Legendary Pink Dots.  I've been an avid collector for over three decades now and am thrilled they are still putting out new material at a feverish pace.

Looking back at their catalog, I had spent all my time and focus on the main band that I honestly overlooked most of Ed Ka-Spel's solo material.  Sure I had bought several of these albums, unfortunately they sat on my shelves collecting dust.  Over the last month, I've corrected this, and given everything I own a thorough listening, then I went through ALL the bandcamp releases he had made available and supplemented my catalog that way.  I ended up pulling together four mixes of the tracks that really stood out to me.  Each one divided into its own mood or genre.
