571 The Remix According to Rapoon

Robin Storey was one of the creators of Zoviet France and remained an active member through 1992.  He also rejoined as part of Reformed Faction.  His solo catalog is just as immense and dances the line between dreamlike ambience, tribal rhythms, and dark industrial soundcapes.  I've owned several of his releases and love them all.  Robin has also paired up with Nigel Ayers for the Hank & Slim project of dirty country ambience, and also with Andrew Diey (Black Faction) for the New Cult of the Sun Moon project.

That Xingu Hill track is a remix of Rapoon, not the other way around.

568 The Remix According to Surgeon

Surgeon is an artist that first caught my attention on Matmos' "California Rhinoplasty EP."  I found it humorous that the two remixers were Surgeon and Docktor Rockit on a medical/surgery themed album.  Shortly after, I found them again appearing on Faust's "Freispiel" remix album which I really enjoyed.  As I was researching this playlist, I found I did already have several other of Surgeon's appearances in my stash of CDs.  I also found that he had completed remixes for dozens of other artists I've never heard of.   So... if any other fans are out there, please send me some recommendations on his work as I don't have much at this time.  What I do have is stuff that I like a lot.

This came from my desire to include Coil and Blue next to each other somehow.  Plus, the Lou Reed meditations album is just wonderful and I've been wanting to use part of this somewhere.  The Moby track is just me adding the bassline from the original to the "Aquamix" remix - I love both versions however felt the remix was missing that groove.

I really wanted to build a playlist around the Godflesh Track "Flowers," as that's a standout track from them in my opinion.  Unfortunately I was drawing a blank trying to find songs similar to this style.  The early era of Skinny Puppy was on my playlist for the day so I started picking a few of those tracks and just went with it.  Not what I originally set out to accomplish, however it did come together nicely in the end.

529 The Remix According to James Plotkin

I was first introduced to James Plotkin through the band Old, then was enamored with his solo album The Joy of Disease.  His collaborations with Mick Harris and Mark Spybey really solidified my appreciation of his artistry.  I have checked into some of his work with Aaron Turner in Jodis and Lotus Eaters which is wonderful ambient music from them, and of course Khanate is incredible.  Otherwise, I really need to seek out more of his works and productions as I've been impressed by everything I have so far.

I have a folder of ambient music that I usually put on random when I'm working.  Sometimes I'll pick specific tracks out of this for background while I meditate every morning.  However, I usually put on some Solfeggio frequency based music for meditations which I didn't include in the next three mixes.  Whatever the purpose, this is some beautiful and calm music for this chaotic world.

Might by my last in this series, but in  no way am I scraping the bottom of the barrel for these tracks.  This set has some more traditional Gamelan tracks mixed in with the rest.  Sure some of it isn't native Gamelan instruments like Jan Jelinek and Lull, however they do sound similar enough and really fit the vibe I was after.
