590 The Remix According To The Orb

The wonderfully weird world of The Orb's remixes.  They go wild in the best possible way, and I will dive into anything with their name on the credits.  I've kind of stopped following their original material as it was probably the early 2000s when I felt their style changed too much from that ambient dub beginnings that made them legends in my book.  Here I've pulled together 50 of my favorites.   I know that's a lot, but there are just so many dang good ones.  

The Orb has released three volumes of Auntie Aubrey's compilations of their remixes.  This is significant as they tend to release those tracks in new edits, some extended, and most with additional samples layered in.  Some of my mixes contain those version, though I tried to stay with the original version where I thought they help up enough on their own.

Continuing the dub theme, here's another mixed bag.  Super excited for the brand new Pelican Daughters album and happy I could include one of the tracks here.  Thanks to https://higher-thansun.blogspot.com/ for the exclusive Orb track here.  Scientist dubbing up New Age Steppers, Rob Smith having his way with a Police cover band, Black Uhuru inviting Natty Dreadlocks over for dinner (My daughter's nickname is Natty Dreadlocks and she joked that this song is about her). I've collected a lot of Orb releases over the years and have always enjoyed their more dubbed out ambient works.  Here I've pulled together two mixes of my favorite non-album mixes/tracks from them for a chilled-out, laid back session.  Nothing too rare here, as most of these tracks are easily available on some of their releases and bootlegs found on the internet.

404 The Remix According To Scorn

Mick Harris has the Midas touch.  Coming from Napalm Death, Scorn was his death ambient project which then pre-empted dubstep, then abandoned that for their own slow bass heavy dark bliss.  He also has his drone project Lull, the drum and bass of Quoit, the Scorn similar project The Weakener, and several releases under his own name.  His project with Bill Laswell and Eraldo Bernocchi is Equations of Eternity and is as great as you can imagine based on that lineup.  Trace Decay is his work with John Everall.  There is also this little band he is in called Painkiller featuring Bill Laswell and John Zorn, which you may have heard of.

Here, his unique touch and trademark Scorn sound is easily identified on every track he works on.  I stayed with remixes under the Scorn name, so nothing listed as a Mick Harris remix or any of his other aliases.  I probably should do a follow up of his other remixes, as there are plenty of gems in there.
