Wrapping it up with some more structure and less ambient in the traditional sense. I mean, who would have expected a Funkadelic cover working in this style?
00:00 Tulsa Drone - Chiaroscuro
04:34 Friends of Dean Martinez - All in a Golden Afternoon
Here is the second half, this one is more my heavy hand on the track selection. A lot of the tracks are from the same artists on vol 1, trying to keep it to one track per artist on these mixes, which is a challenge for me.

08:55 Bright Eyes - Four Winds
12:59 Modest Mouse - Gravity Rides Everything

21:03 Mojave 3 - Mercy
25:51 Iron and Wine & Ben Bridwell - The Straight and Narrow (Spiritualized)
Both my wife and I love some indie folk/alt country but we have different tastes. This is a mix that combines songs we both picked out. Those that know us well can easily guess which were her contributions and which were mine. And sure, there are a few we agree on. I made this mix for our camping trip last summer, and then we listened again on this year's trip and it totally holds up as a great road trip mix. Even the kids were singing along. Had to include at least one Patti Smith track because we saw the photography exhibit at the Selby Gardens last year which was just pure beauty; they played this song in what I have to say was intentional irony, in the middle of the cactus garden.

The first CDs I picked up were the split with Songs: Ohia, and the "Chocolate and Ice" EP. Then grabbed "Tennessee Fire" on vinyl and by the time "It Still Moves" was released, I was turned off and lost all interest. I've not given any subsequent album a chance, aside from the Jim James tribute to George Harrison. Last year one of their newest songs was on the radio and I had a very hard time believing it was the same band I used to love. This mix is focused on those early formative years up to and including At Dawn.

Another overview of a favorite artist. I first came across Devendra Banhart as a member of The Angels of Light during an episode of the Brainwashed Eye. I bought the double vinyl for Rejoicing in the Hands / Nino Rojo and thought it was one of the greatest double albums ever. Next I purchased "Oh Me Oh My..." and found how absolutely wacky this guy's roots were. When Cripple Crow and Smokey Rolls... came out I saw he had sufficiently mellowed his style and was quite an accomplished musician. It is also worth seeking out the bootleg "Yo Si Oigo - Devendra Banhart's Influences" as it contains many gems that are certainly huge influences on his body of work.
No mixcloud option again, just the spotify and download links below.
This mix was from April 2018. I recall vividly because it was listened to extensively while my family moved to our current home. My 2 year old at the time, loved the Bambi song so much. My wife teased this was the only time I'd included a Fleetwood Mac song into a mix. We'd all sing along to Price, as you have to educate your children on his legacy.
00:00 Brazilian Girls - Let's Make Love
03:26 Zola Jesus - Dangerous Days
07:49 Prince - 17 Days
11:25 Sylk 130 - The Reason (King Britt's original demo)
15:22 Mary J Blige - Family Affair (Radio edit clean)
First half of this mix, as when I was compiling songs I ended up with too many and couldn't decide which Japancakes track to use. Choosing both meant I had to divide everything based on overall feeling. This mix is more indie folk oriented and features some excellent cover songs, some classics, and some general fun.
00:00 Calexico - Sonic Wind (Instrumental mix)
04:59 Japancakes - Heaven or Las Vegas (Cocteau Twins)
09:40 Iron and Wine - Love Vigilantes (New Order)
13:41 Grant Lee Phillips - Age of Consent (New Order)
A selection of very personal songs that had significant impact on my life. The Spiritualized cover is pretty spot on for my college years. The Vic Chesnutt cover hit home during the months leading up to my mother's death. The early years of My Morning Jacket resonated with me and I was fortunate enough to see them live on the Tennessee Fire tour. I adore this Elizabeth Cotten track, which I came across via His Name Is Alive.

This first song is what I danced with my mother to at my wedding. Aside from my wife, my mother was about the only person that really got me; understood why I didn't like anything mainstream and sought out the obscure and unique parts of art and life. More or less, most of these songs are about love in one shape or another.
