Grunge, heavy alternative rock. A homage to the 90s. This is the stuff I dove into back in middles school and high school. While most of my friends gravitated towards punk, I loved the scuzzy dirty grunge scene. Those harder hitting alternative rock songs and such. Admittedly, I have much respect for Chris Cornell, but Loud Love was the end of my appreciation of Soundgarden, their pop hits really irked me. Glad I got to see them as the opening act on for Pantera and then Skid Row. Bonkers, and I recall they all came on the stage at the encore to do a cover of "Train Kept A Rollin." I have fond memories of seeing the Butthole Surfers at Lollapalooza, where Gibby flung paper plates overhead and shot them with a BB gun. Catherine Wheel's album Chrome is just a masterpiece for this genre. Also, can't say enough good about the Beach Boy's-esque noise pop of the Jesus and Mary Chain.
