Easily my favorite of the Neo-Folk genre, and best project from a former member of Death in June / Crisis UK.  Solid songwriting and lyrics, and catchy melodies over simple chord progressions.  I remember I had a great Sol Invictus t-shirt with the sun logo, and nearly every time I wore it some yahoo would comment that it was the coolest Sublime shirt.  I'd say, "No, sorry its for Sol Invictus," which was usually met with, "Oh you mean the new Faith No More album, that's great!"

257b - England's Hidden Reverse Focus

What a wonderful book this is, full of anecdotes and disgusting stories of the early days of industrial music surrounding the adventures of Coil, Current 93, and Nurse With Wound.  Also telling the intertwined stories of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, United Dairies record label, and all the friends and relations surrounding this cast of unique characters.   This book does come with an excellent compilation of tracks, and I decided to supplement this with era specific music which was referenced or detailed in the book.  Well worth the read if anyone has even a passing interest in these artists or the scene.

256 - Fun and Funky mix

Yep, this is a fun and funky mix for sure.  Very reflective of a point in time for me, but also nostalgic for some history.  I was re-watching Enter the Dragon when I realized the soundtrack kicks some serious butt.  A local radio station played this Roxy Music track, which honestly I'd never heard before and I got into the groove.  There's a lot of crate digging for sample sources like Bob James (come on, everyone should recognize this), Onesness of Juju (FSOL), Shamek Farrah (Scorn), Ken Thorne (Portishead), Mina (Elvis Costello) Shub Niggurath (Scorn).  The track from Selda is a great protest song, worth it to look up the translated lyrics.  My phone's ringtone was this Hildegard von Bingen song for quite a while, can't listen to it without looking at my phone now.  It took me far too long to track down this Dimitri from Tokyo EP, my friend had this on vinyl back in the 90s, and he swore up and down that this was Dmitry from Deee-Lite, which I believed for the last 20-30 years.  My last annecdote is that I sadly first heard The Damned on Phantasmagoria, when I really should have started at the beginning with Damned Damned Damned, anyhow this track stuck with me for is sillyness for a goth/punk band.

Solid classic reggae mix, heavy on the version.  A couple modern tracks thrown in for good measure, but overall a slate of tracks I've loved for many years.  I remember first coming across at least half of this from a fan mix I found online called "Cool Names Dub" from over 25 years ago, in the infancy of internet downloads.  Nearly every track was a banger.

Having worked most of my adult life in IT, I have a great appreciation for ambient music.  It is wonderful to have some calm, droning music playing in the background while I focus intently on the tasks at hand.  Of course, growing up with a fond appreciation of industrial music, I tend to gravitate towards dark ambient more than new age / spa style ambient.   Still, the next five mixes cover a lot of ground and I hope others enjoy this selection of my favorites.  Plenty enough to put on a loop and get through the workday.

The neighbors at my first apartment in college would play the Beastie Boys every day.  Seriously, everyday for a year I heard them.  I always appreciated their music, but hearing it so often and not of my own free will caused some resentment over time.  Then near 20 years later I was open to revisiting their catalog and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thought it was a good idea to compile all the Beastie's instrumental tracks in one place.  They're such talented musicians on top of their rhyming ability.

245 - Aesop Rock

I've heard Aesop Rock is the hip hop artist with the largest vocabulary, beating out GZA and Kool Keith.  I've been a fan ever since I picked up Float at the Anticon show.  The below mix is a bit heavy on "The Impossible Kid" and "Spirit World Field Guide" only because I think those are his best and most consistent albums.  I really wanted to include something from his project The Uncluded, but it didn't fit with the rest.  Be sure to check the videos, all his official ones are excellent, I also found some live versions, and the rest should all be the lyric videos because its just awe inspiring to follow along with his rhymes.
