Continuing the dark ambient style here, but with occassional rhythms behind the wash of sounds.  Maybe not as calming as most ambient music, which is why I love this stuff.  It hangs in the background yet fills a room with a sense of tension that is undeniable.

249a - Ambient mix 1

Having worked most of my adult life in IT, I have a great appreciation for ambient music.  It is wonderful to have some calm, droning music playing in the background while I focus intently on the tasks at hand.  Of course, growing up with a fond appreciation of industrial music, I tend to gravitate towards dark ambient more than new age / spa style ambient.   Still, the next five mixes cover a lot of ground and I hope others enjoy this selection of my favorites.  Plenty enough to put on a loop and get through the workday.

The neighbors at my first apartment in college would play the Beastie Boys every day.  Seriously, everyday for a year I heard them.  I always appreciated their music, but hearing it so often and not of my own free will caused some resentment over time.  Then near 20 years later I was open to revisiting their catalog and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thought it was a good idea to compile all the Beastie's instrumental tracks in one place.  They're such talented musicians on top of their rhyming ability.
