Getting back to the task at hand, off a backup hard drive while I still piece together my home office one box at a time. This mix has it all, if electronic music is your game. Drome makes two appearances here, I mentioned before about finding them by happy accident so its natural I’d have several tracks from them show up. This Susumu Yokota track elicited that “what the heck, I’ve heard this before” reaction, which does appear via the Unidad Sasao track “No Longer (Ignore Me)” featuring Jurgen Weber from Novy Svet. 9 Lazy 9 being an early favorite from Ninja Tune, and features the first of two Journeman remixes in this set. Tosca being a Richard Dorfmeister project and it shows; the Fila Brazillia remix flows so well with this material. Cassetteboy doing their fun plunderphonic cut-up approach to the motorik of Fujiya & Miyagi, which leads so well into the psychedelic drone washes of Spiritualized, then the cLOUDDEAD remix of Boom Bip. If it was still mixing these tracks together like my former style, this would’ve come out great. Nut’n’Honey is a mystery artist on Tigerbeat6, releasing only one track on a compilation which leads me to believe this is an alias for one of the regulars at the time (Kid606, CEX, Lesser, Aelters, etc). Unitone Hi-Fi here with the second Drome appearance. Hab was another mystery to me, had this in an unsorted folder as a standalone track on my hard drive, I really like how this doesn’t really intensify until about the last minute. Powwoww came to my attention via their sample of Orbital’s Halycon, which of course famously sampled Opus III covering Jane. Unfortunately, my copy of this track cuts off very early. I’ll keep digging and see if I can find a full-length version somewhere and replace it in the download here. DJ X-Plorer with the twin peaks reference, which also samples Orbital’s Halycon, similar style but since it’s the full track, I seem to like it more than the previous one. MBM with a newer comp track, and then Ian Boddy & Chris Canter’s collaboration from 2000 (reissued last year) which I suppose is a little out of place, though still a good closer to this mix.
