493A Current 93 by any other name

If you were to ask me who is my most collected musical artist, it would be a close tie between Muslimgauze, Legendary Pink Dots and Current 93.  Here I've assembled some fanboy stuff over five themed mixes in my attempt to show the breadth and depth of their work, supplementing my previous mixes.

This first round is collecting tracks from each of David Michael Tibet Bunting's many projects.  These are all full aliases or collaborations and not just guest appearances.  Starting with my absolute favorite version of my favorite track from him, "The Dead Side of the Moon."  This is under his name with the main guy behind Nurse with Wound, David Tibet & Steven Stapleton.  They recorded this particular album twice, once as Musical Pumpkin Cottage and again as Musicalische Kurbs Hutte; giving each artist the space to wield their had as conductor. Then released several outtakes and alternate versions on Dead Memory and The Threat on Memory.  Zu93 is exactly that, the wonderful enigmatic group Zu paired up with Current 93, making some very interesting songs with a theme through the album.  Hypnopazuzu is Martin Glover aka Youth, with David Tibet.  The had done an unreleased collaboration (included in a subsequent mix here), and finally got together in 2016 to put this wonderful slab of vinyl together.  Nodding God is a project with Andrew Liles, David Tibet and an unnamed third member who could or could not real.  Still a great and bizarre album with lyrics only in Assyrian and Babylonian.  The next track is from the C93 album "Island" which is a collaboration with Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, and this particular track features backing vocals from that former Sugarcube, Bjork.

Next up are The Aryan Aquarians, which by the reviews as the result of several drunken evenings, and has that kind of feeling to the music.  Certainly not my favorite of his projects though it has its moments.  Next up and from a similar period are The Nodding Folk, which was a one off project that released this two track single and an accompanying comic book.  The artists include personnel such as Savage Pencil, the musicians are all members of Coil, Nurse With Wound, Current 93, its worth seeking out, and here is a link to the comic.  Myrninerest is David Tibet with James Blackshaw as a tribute/homage to Jhonn Balance from Coil.  The album was released in multiple versions all by different producers/mixers.  I've only heard the copy I own and can't comment on any differences.  Black Ships is one of many aliases David used in this era surrounding his "Black Ships Ate the Sky" album (which I was a supporter and am listed in the thanks in the liner notes).  This particular track was from an early single with an alternate mix from his upcoming album under the C93 name.  Anok Pe is credited a couple times on other albums, "Birth Canal Blues" is the only EP under their name as the artist.  Its essentially Current 93 during the Hallucinatory Mountian era.  Lastly is Dogs Blood Order, which is where it all started in 1983.  David only released one album under this name, and that wasn't issued until 1997.  Its his early noisy tape collage style that can really unsettle a room.
