480 Hip Hop Mash-Ups pt1

Novelty music for sure, however some of these really work well.  In my opinion that's a rarity as there seems to be a flood of average mash-ups out there.  Sometimes there is alchemy and these two mixes really showcase the tracks that keep me coming back looking for more mash-ups.  A couple are loosely in this genre like the Kid 666 track, that is Kid606 remixing Missy Elliot, and its included here for the awesome inclusion of A-Ha's "Take On Me" at the end.  Girl talk is more like a massive mash-up mixtape, with some really great spots.  That Cut Chemist remix is not really a mashup, but its got such a strong use of Bauhaus that I had to include it.

  1. This is right up my alley. I remember Wudos Band, Wugazi, Wu Orleans, all that crazy stuff. Still listen to Mos Dub and Dub Kweli. Do you remember Glassbreaks by DJ BC (hip hop vocal tracks mashed up with Einstein On The Beach)? A lot of work went into creating these. Thanks!

    1. Glad you like them. Mos Dub and Dub Kweli are in frequent rotation here, it works so well. I think I've still got a King Tubby vs Wu-Tang album sitting around somewhere too, I do remember DJ BC, but not sure I had that particular album, I'll go looking for it as it sounds great.
